Charles Dawson of PA Consulting believes Interacticve Digital TV will be the next e-commerce gold rush.

ATTRACTIVE CONTENT, more channels, free set-top boxes, improved picture quality and 'keeping up with the Jones' have all encouraged the take-up of digital TV in the UK.

And while most people are not buying digital TV primarily for interactive services, they certainly use the services once they have them.

In fact, online Interactive Digital Television (IDTV) shopping growth could outstrip the rise in PC e-commerce this year, according to the British Market Research Bureau.

Marks & Spencer awarded IDTV the ultimate seal of approval recently when it announced a five-year agreement to sell its products via Open's IDTV service.

The inescapable truth is that companies are already exploiting IDTV opportunities: deciding to ignore this vital new channel to your customers may not be a viable option.
